Newport Beach and Oxnard, Calif. \u2013 November 18, 2025 \u2013 <\/strong>Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE<\/a>) announced that it was awarded a contract to design and build a new hydrogen fueling station for Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD), which serves multiple cities in Ventura County, CA.  The contract includes a five-year maintenance agreement for what will be a private station that initially will fuel five fuel cell buses, with plans to eventually transition a fleet of approximately 70 vehicles to zero emissions by 2040. This is part of GCTD\u2019s vision to provide environmentally responsible public transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGold Coast Transit and Clean Energy\u2019s partnership to bring healthier living for the people of Ventura County through clean-operating buses goes back years,\u201d said Chad Lindholm, senior vice president at Clean Energy. \u201cIt is very rewarding to work with forward-looking transit agencies like Gold Coast and we are honored that they chose us to take them into hydrogen fueling and fuel cell buses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GCTD was awarded $12.1 million by the U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s Federal Transit Administration to construct a new hydrogen station and purchase hydrogen fuel cell electric buses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe look forward to working with Clean Energy through the construction of a new hydrogen station and then rolling out our first zero-emissions fuel cell buses,\u201d said Vanessa Rauschenberger, GCTD General Manager. \u201cGCTD has always been at the forefront of clean transportation, and transitioning our fleet to include hydrogen-powered buses will enable us to provide Ventura County with even greener transportation options in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new hydrogen station is expected to be completed in 2027 and will be located at GCTD\u2019s Oxnard facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clean Energy currently maintains GCTD\u2019s compressed natural gas (CNG) station and provides renewable natural gas (RNG) for their fleet of 61 CNG-powered buses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
